Christopher Long

Christopher Long is President and CEO of Washington Resource Associates (WRA), and is a highly regarded public affairs strategist in Washington, DC. Since founding WRA in 1995, Mr. Long has built a successful practice advising clients on a broad range of issues while helping clients work effectively with government.

Mr. Long is a leader in building innovative and successful partnerships and coalitions, having founded or co-founded several of Washington’s most respected policy forums, an industry trade association, and national grassroots campaigns. He is a founder of the Digital Dialogue Forum, Washington, DC’s premiere technology roundtable, and the highly acclaimed Homeland Security Dialogue Forum, a collaborative forum that brings together industry and senior government officials to discuss critical homeland security issues.

Under Mr. Long’s leadership, WRA has built a powerful grassroots network of community organizations across America and an effective “grasstops” network of senior state elected officials. Mr. Long has pioneered new models of collaboration between government, industry, and community partners, and has developed new strategic approaches for getting the most from corporate philanthropic giving.

As a long time Virginia resident, Mr. Long has worked with state leaders throughout the Commonwealth on technology policy matters. Most recently, he served as Chairman of Virginia Governor-elect Tim Kaine’s Technology Policy Transition Committee. Mr. Long previously served on the I- GOV Advisory Committee for the General Assembly’s Joint Committee on Technology and Science. Mr. Long is a founding member of the Northern Virginia Technology Council Political Action Committee (NVTC TECHPAC) and serves on the TECHPAC Board of Directors.

Chris Long has spoken across the country on issues related to electronic government and governance. His remarks have focused on promoting new models of collaboration between the public and private sector and shaping basic principles for making electronic governance work best for citizens, government, and the business community.
