New Jersey Congressman Leonard Lance Joins DDF

With a long and distinguished career in public service, Congressman Leonard Lance is currently serving in his 4th term representing New Jersey’s 7th Congressional  District. Congressman Lance serves on the Energy & Commerce Committee, where he is Vice Chair of the Commerce, Manufacturing, and Trade Subcommittee.  He also sits on the Communications and Technology subcommittee; and the Health subcommittee.  Previously, the congressman was a member of the Financial Services Committee.

Prior to coming to Washington, Congressman Lance was the Minority Leader in the New Jersey State Senate.  Before that, he served in the General Assembly, where he chaired the Budget Committee.

Congressman Lance recently made his first DDF visit, engaging DDF members in an interactive dialogue and seeking industry input and insights.

Freshman Congressman Don Beyer may be a new face on Capitol Hill but he is well-known in Northern Virginia as he has spent four decades building his local family business, Don Beyer Volvo.

Prior to his election to Congress in 2014 to replace retiring Rep. Jim Moran, Rep. Beyer had a distinguished career in public service including eight 8 years as Lieutenant Governor of Virginia and four  years as United States Ambassador to Switzerland and Liechtenstein.

The congressman serves on the Joint Economic Committee, the Committee on Natural Resources, and the Committee on Science, Space, and Technology, where he is Ranking Member of its Subcommittee on Oversight.  Congressman Beyer also serves as the new DCCC Finance Chairman and is a member of the New Democrat Coalition.

Congressman Peter Welch was first elected in 2006 to Vermont’s sole seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.  In 2011, he was appointed to serve as a Chief Deputy Whip of the House Democratic Caucus.

Congressman Welch currently serves on the House Committee on Energy and Commerce and sits on its Subcommittees on Communications and Technology; Commerce, Manufacturing, and Trade; Oversight and Investigations; and Energy and Power.  The congressman is also a member of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, where he sits on the Subcommittee on National Security, Homeland Defense and Foreign Operations.

Along with Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), Congressman Welch serves as Co-Chair of the bipartisan Energy and Commerce Privacy Working Group.  The group was founded in 2013 “to examine online privacy concerns and issues…with a balanced approach that recognizes the need to protect personal information online in a manner that preserves growth and innovation.”
