Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Daniel Sepulveda discusses international coordination on internet policy

Ambassador Daniel Sepulveda serves as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State and U.S. Coordinator for International Communications and Information Policy in the State Department’s Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs (EB). In this role, Ambassador Sepulveda leads and coordinates the Department’s positions on communications and information policy issues.

Prior to joining the State Department in 2013, Ambassador Sepulveda served as a Senior Advisor to Senator William "Mo" Cowan of Massachusetts. From 2009 to 2012, he served as a Senior Advisor and member of Senator John Kerry’s senior management team, handling the Senator’s extensive commerce, trade, and business portfolio, which included his work as chairman of the Commerce Subcommittee on Communications, Technology, and the Internet.

Ambassador Sepulveda recently joined the Digital Dialogue Forum to discuss Internet governance, international perspectives on digital policies, his priorities for protecting American interests online, and future developments in these spaces.  



Treasury's Assistant Secretary for Tax Policy Mark Mazur Discusses Corporate Tax Reform, Extenders, and Inversions

President Barack Obama nominated Mark Mazur in November 2011 to serve as the Treasury Department’s Assistant Secretary for Tax Policy, and he was confirmed in August 2012. In this role, he is responsible for developing, analyzing, and coordinating Treasury's and the Administration's agenda, policies, and guidance on tax issues.

Assistant Secretary Mazur sat down with DDF to discuss an array of topics and industry priorities including the corporate tax structure and opportunities for reform, tax extenders, and corporate inversion.  



White House Cybersecurity Coordinator Michael Daniel Discusses New Approach to Cybersecurity

As a Special Assistant to President Barack Obama and the White House Cybersecurity Coordinator, Mr. Michael Daniel leads the interagency development of national cybersecurity strategy and policy, and he oversees federal agencies’ implementation of those policies. Mr. Daniel also ensures that the federal government is effectively partnering with the private sector, non-governmental organizations, other branches and levels of government, and other nations.

Mr. Daniel recently joined DDF to discuss the White House’s approach to cybersecurity and information sharing, provide an update on the NIST cybersecurity framework, and make a few comments on CDM and encryption.
