Rep. Jim Langevin Discusses the Cyber Landscape

First elected to the House in 2000, Congressman Jim Langevin (D-RI-2) is a senior member of the Armed Services Committee, where he is Ranking Member on the Intelligence, Emerging Threats and Capabilities Subcommittee.  He is also serving in his fourth term on the Intelligence Committee and serves on the Subcommittee on Technical and Tactical Intelligence. As part of the Democratic Leadership team, Rep. Langevin serves as both a Democratic Regional Whip for New England and a member of House Minority Senior Whip Team.

Securing our nation’s infrastructure against a cyber attack is a top priority for the congressman.  As the Co-Founder and Co-Chairman of the bipartisan House Cyber Security Caucus, he is a leader in raising awareness of cyber security issues among his congressional colleagues and the public.

Rep. Langevin recently made a return visit to the Forum to provide an update on his priorities and to engage in a discussion on cyber security, surveillance reform, and other growing security concerns around the world.

A recognized tech leader, with a penchant for communicating directly with constituents via Twitter, Senator Claire McCaskill (D-MO) serves on the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation and is the Chairman of the Subcommittee on Consumer Protection.  She also sits on the Subcommittee on Communications, Technology, and the Internet, among others.

The senator also serves on the Committees on Armed Services, Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, and the Special Committee on Aging.  She is Chairman of the Homeland Security Subcommittee on Financial and Contracting Oversight.

Senator McCaskill recently joined DDF to discuss a variety of topics, including privacy, patent reform, government contracting, and trade.

Congressman Gerry Connolly was elected in 2008 to represent Virginia’s 11th district, which includes much of Fairfax County and is home to many of the Commonwealth’s technology businesses. 

The congressman serves on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee and the House Foreign Affairs Committee.  He is the Ranking Member of the Oversight and Government Reform Subcommittee on Government Operations and also serves on the Subcommittee on Economic Growth, Job Creation, and Regulatory Affairs.  The congressman is also a senior member of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on the Middle East and North Africa and also serves on the Subcommittee on Asia and the Pacific. 

Rep. Connolly recently made his second visit to DDF and covered a broad range of issues, including government contracting, infrastructure investment, and immigration reform.
