Senator John Cornyn shares his thoughts on free trade, immigration reform, intellectual property, and patent reform

Senator Cornyn was first elected to the Senate in 2002 and currently serves as Vice Chairman of the Senate Republican Conference.  The senator is a member of the Armed Services, Judiciary, and Budget Committees.  He currently serves as Ranking Member on both the Armed Services’ Airland Subcommittee and the Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on Immigration, Refugees, Border Protection.  Additionally, he is currently the Vice Chair of the Senate Select Committee on Ethics.

Senator Cornyn has taken a leadership role on many issues of importance to the technology community.  He is chairman of both the Senate India Caucus and the Senate RFID Caucus.  Senator Cornyn is also a member of the Senate Republican High Tech Task Force, the Congressional Oversight Group on Trade, and the President’s Export Council. 

Senator Cornyn joined DDF recently to discuss issues of importance to him and our industry, including:  free trade, intellectual property, immigration reform, and patent reform.



Congressman Randy Forbes Discusses Budgetary Concerns and Intellectual Property Rights

Congressman Randy Forbes is welcomed to the Forum by Sponsor Michael McMenamin of Alcatel-Lucent

Congressman Forbes represents the diverse and expansive Fourth Congressional District in the Tidewater area of Virginia.  Elected in a special election in 2001, he is now serving his fourth term in the U.S. House of Representatives.  Congressman Forbes is a member of the Judiciary Committee, where he sits on the Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, and Homeland Security and on the Subcommittee on Immigration, Citizenship, Refugees, Border Security, and International Law.  He is also a member of the Armed Services Committee, where he serves as Ranking Member of the Readiness Subcommittee.

Congressman Forbes joined DDF recently to share some of his legislative concerns, including the budget process and intellectual property rights.

 



Assistant Secretary Greg Garcia Discusses Cybersecurity

Assistant Secretary Greg Garcia is welcomed back to the Forum by DDF Sponsor Chris Long of WRA

The Honorable Greg Garcia was appointed by Secretary Chertoff on September 18, 2006, to be America’s first Assistant Secretary for Cyber Security and Communications (CS&C). He leads the strategic direction of CS&C and oversees the National Cyber Security Division, the Office of Emergency Communications and the National Communications System.

Prior to joining the Department, Mr. Garcia served as Vice President for Information Security Programs and Policy with the Information Technology Association of America (ITAA). In this capacity, he managed all programmatic and public policy aspects of information security, with a view to strengthening our national cyber readiness among the user and vendor communities. Additionally, he worked with the Department of Homeland Security to co-found the National Cyber Security Partnership.
